There are a couple of shares left in Aconitum - for more info on this - please go to the Syndicates page. Here is a photo of Aconitum meeting some of his new Owners!

27th Sept 08

Georgie has been out and about with her camera! She got some nice shots of the schooling facilities and of a couple of the horses schooling...

Midnight Chase                                        Ruby having great fun!!

Clovis ran a good solid race tonight running on at the end to finish eighth. He missed the break again and this will now be worked on at home before his next outing. He was only about 4 lengths off the winner! David Bridger was there to see Clovis run as were Liz, Georgie, Neil and myself (Kay). A great time was had by all!

Faraday runs today at Beverley at 5.00pm. When Neil declared him we had a very good chance! With overnight rain of 8mm and the going changed to Good/Soft, we think now that we have a good each-way chance. Faraday is still going to run today as he has been balloted out a few times recently. Nina Carberry is riding, when I spoke to Neil this morning, he was on his way to the airport to pick her up! Come on Faraday!! :)...

Faraday hated the ground and was also hampered on the top bend heading towards the home straight. It was a shame - took Liz 7 hours to get there! Never mind - he lives to fight another day!

Winsley Hill (Neil's "Larkinglass Princess") ran at Plumpton in a 0-125 handicap hurdle. As usual she tried her little heart out and finished 2nd! Liz Harrington says that Winsley never knows when to stop trying!

Courtesy of Racing Post:

Winsley Hill has developed into a consistent hurdler and, running her race, rates a sound benchmark for the form. She remains open to improvement and can be found less competitive assignments in which to regain winning form.

Fairlight Shadow ran in a Selling Hurdle at Uttoxeter. Having pulled up in his last couple of runs, Shadow's Owner, Martin Cahill, had been advised to tie a ribbon to the top of his tail just before the race...Lizzie duly obliged and Shadow went into the paddock with a very smart black ribbon tied to his tail! Richard Pitman duly noticed and came over to enquire as to the reason...anyway, Shadow duly run his race and finished a very creditable 5th and was even running on at the finish! So maybe it wasn't such "an old wives tale" after all...

Fairlight Shadow, who has a history of breaking blood vessels, was racing with a tie on his tail in an attempt to remedy this, and he did at least complete.

September 2008

The yard is gearing up for the NH onslaught! There haven't been that many runners coming out of the yard lately but that will soon change!

23 horses were schooled yesterday over Neil's new hurdles that are now in place. They are special training hurdles covered in rubber...I will try to get some photos of them the next time I visit the yard.

All the horses are in fantastic condition and I can't wait to see them out on the track...

Watch this space for very exciting news on the new LARKINGLASS RACING SYNDICATE and the LARKINGLASS RACING CLUB. Both of which are going to be very exciting new affordable ventures!

You might ask what is the difference - well very basically, if you join the syndicate, there is a small initial outlay for a proper percentage share of a horse (12 people in each horse) and then an ongoing monthly fixed payment towards the training fees. This means you would actually own a share of a racehorse! Each syndicate will be setup for a year and at the end of that year, you would have the chance to leave the syndicate if you so wished.

More information available soon!

If you join the club, then there is no initial outlay, just a fixed annual or monthly membership fee. Larkinglass Ltd will be leasing horses to the club at no charge but club members would only have the use of the horses for the term of their membership. Larkinglass would retain the ownership of the horses. The racing club is a very economical way to be included in the racing game. You get to go to the races and watch your horses run as "Owners". You get to visit the yard to watch the horses train and all with no initial capital outlay.

More information available soon!!

August 2008 - Winsley Hill showed her class yet again at Newton Abbot on 4th Aug. She came a good third on ground that wasn't really suitable for her.

Courtesy of Racing Post (except he is definitely a she!)

Winsley Hill and the other two were clear of the others which is also a positive for the overall form. This was his first run for a couple of months and he would have appreciated better ground as all his wins have come on faster. It would not be a surprise if he was to win again in the near future.

Also on the 7th Aug Clovis came third at Bath. Courtesy of Racing Post:

Clovis was sweating but still ran his best race to date for his new trainer. He was dropping back to 1m, but the key to him might well be in the ground as he looks to need some cut.

Clovis chilling out in his stable...

[04/07/08] - Winsley Hill, who gave Neil such a great start to his training career with 2 wins in May has just come back into work after a well earned holiday in the paddocks. Here's hoping that she can carry on the good work when she returns to racing in about a month.

[21/7/08] - With so many of the horses returning to the yard after their summer breaks there is great expectancy in the yard as we are all dreaming of the stream of winners that is going to come from the yard this winter.
