Cosmic Sun ran on very convincingly in a field of 19 to win by one and a quarter lengths. The Racing Post had this to say:
A typically strong renewal of this highly competitive
3yo handicap. Mark Johnston and Sir Michael Stoute had
each had three winners in the previous eight runnings
and both were represented again but, in what was a rough
race early with the hold-up horses getting in each
others´ way, there was a surprise result. The time was
0.62sec slower than the Ribblesdale earlier in the
afternoon.
COSMIC SUN, whose dam Cosmic Case
was a middle-distance/stayer on the Flat and won over 3m
over hurdles, had done pretty well as a juvenile
considering his breeding. However, he came into this as
a maiden in ten starts and had been well beaten by two
of today´s rivals in his previous starts this season.
Racing from 3lb out of the handicap, he was always going
comfortably in the wake of the leaders and picked up
well from the home turn to get his head in front
entering the final furlong. He was always holding his
rivals from that point and is clearly better than he has
been showing of late.
Helissio stands at Larkinglass at a fee of £2500.00. Please see below for more details of this fabulous stallion.
