Stallions At Stud

The Directors of Larkinglass Ltd are very proud to announce the arrival of 2 top-class Thoroughbred Stallions - Helissio and Pasternak. There is also an Arab Stallion available - Vert Olive - please click on his name for more details.

18th June 09

Today at Royal Ascot, Cosmic Sun, a son of Helissio, pictured below, won the

« 5:30
King George V Stakes (Heritage Handicap)
(Class 2) (0-105, 3yo) 1m4f Good To Firm
£31,155.00, £9,330.00, £4,665.00, £2,335.00, £1,165.00, £585.00

Cosmic Sun ran on very convincingly in a field of 19 to win by one and a quarter lengths. The Racing Post had this to say:

A typically strong renewal of this highly competitive 3yo handicap. Mark Johnston and Sir Michael Stoute had each had three winners in the previous eight runnings and both were represented again but, in what was a rough race early with the hold-up horses getting in each others´ way, there was a surprise result. The time was 0.62sec slower than the Ribblesdale earlier in the afternoon.

COSMIC SUN, whose dam Cosmic Case was a middle-distance/stayer on the Flat and won over 3m over hurdles, had done pretty well as a juvenile considering his breeding. However, he came into this as a maiden in ten starts and had been well beaten by two of today´s rivals in his previous starts this season. Racing from 3lb out of the handicap, he was always going comfortably in the wake of the leaders and picked up well from the home turn to get his head in front entering the final furlong. He was always holding his rivals from that point and is clearly better than he has been showing of late.

Helissio stands at Larkinglass at a fee of £2500.00. Please see below for more details of this fabulous stallion.

VERT OLIVE - 1990 - DARK BAY - 14.2HH

by Elbing (Aloes) out of Bise du Moulon (Manganate)

Through Larkinglass Ltd, Harwood Arabian Stud is delighted to announce that Vert Olive will be standing at public stud at Larkinglass Farm reasonably priced for breeders of performance horses whether for race track, endurance, orienteering, showing etc. During his race career spanning three years Vert Olive had 20 starts and 12 wins and 4 placings. As a 4 year old he had 7 starts with 5 wins including the Al Waltherba Stakes at Kempton Park. At 5 years he had 6 starts and 6 wins which included the Zaabeel Stakes at Kempton and the Qatar Sprint Championship at Goodwood. At 6 years he went on to win the Al Futtain Trophy in Abu Dhabi.

He retired sound and is a beautifully made horse which combined with his outstandingly kind nature makes him a big favourite as a sire of riding horses. A number of Harwood mares will be covered by him this season. He has sired many winners on the race course and his offspring are making their mark at endurance. His sire Elbing represents some of the finest sound strong horses from Poland and his dam with her prepotent sire Manganate represents some of the finest French racing lines.
